DESCRIPTION: Up to 5cm in diameter. A large oval to round spongy gall that starts yellowish to pale cream before becoming darker and pinkish. This is a unilocular gall with the inner chambers formed by the sexual generation of the wasp. The agamic galls are rarely recorded as they are found on the roots of the host.  DISTRIBUTION: Common and widespread throughout Britain. HABITAT: The Oak Apple Gall is found on Oak trees mainly during the months of May and June.
